1.State of registered legal entities
As a result of reforms undertaken to further liberalize the economy and modernize the country, the number of registered legal entities (without farm enterprises and dekhkan farms) as of 1 January 2017 was 285,3 thousand units and increased in comparison with the same period of 2016 by 2,5 percent. A significant number of registered enterprises and organizations is located in the city of Tashkent (56,5 thousand), Tashkent region (29,0 thousand), Fergana region (23,8 thousand), Samarkand region (21,0 thousand), Namangan region (20,2 thousand), Kashkadarya region (18,9 thousand), and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (13,7 thousand).

2.Activity of operating legal entities
As of 1 January 2017, the number of operating legal entities (excluding farm enterprises and dekhkan farms) exceeded 268,4 thousand.

In comparison with 2006 the above indicator increased by 2 times by the republic, and by regions it is characterized by the following data: Khorezm region – 2,3 times, Andizhan, Djizhak, Namangan, Tashkent regions, as well as the city of Tashkent - 2,2 times (per each), Navoi and Syrdarya regions - 2,0 times (per each), Fergana region - 1,9 times, Bukhara region - 1,8 times, Kashkadarya region - 1,6 times, Samarkand and Surkhandarya regions - 1,5 times (per each) and the Republic of Karakalpakstan – 1,7 times.

If we compare by types of economic activity, then an increase is observed in the industry – 2,4 times, in construction – 1,7 times, and in transportation and storage – 3,3 times.
A significant number of operating enterprises and organizations is located in the city of Tashkent (20,5 percent of the total number of registered enterprises), Tashkent region (9,3 percent), Fergana region (8,7 percent), Samarkand region (7,2 percent), Namangan region (7,0 percent), Kashkadarya region (6,7 percent), Bukhara region (5,5 percent), Khorezm region (5,0 percent),and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (4,8 percent).

As of 1 January 2017, out of 268,4 operating legal entities in the Republic (excluding farmer and dekhkan farms)by types of economic activity, industry accounted for 43,5 thousand, construction – 22,1 thousand, agriculture, forestry and fishing – 18,3 thousand, trade – 61,7 thousand, transportation and storage – 10,9 thousand, accommodation and food services-15,5 thousand, information and communication – 6,4 thousand, real estate operations – 11,3 thousand, professional, scientific and technical activities – 11,9 thousand, education – 19,8 thousand, public health and social services – 8,2 thousand and others – 38,8 thousand.

As of 1 January 2017, according to the Classifier of organizational and legal forms, the total number of operating commercial enterprises (excluding farmer and dekhkan farms) was 213089 units.

Of the total number of operating commercial enterprises, limited liability companies accounted for 57,0 percent, private enterprises-33,2 percent, family enterprises-3,9 percent, unitary enterprises-1,1 percent, joint-stock companies- 0,3 percent and 4,5 percent- enterprises of other organizational and legal forms.
The number of operating large commercial enterprises (excluding farm enterprises and dekhkan farms) as of 1 January 2017 amounted to 2302 units.
By types of activity 101 units belong to agriculture, forestry and fishing, 542 units - industry, 292 units - construction, 513 units - trade, 217 units - transportation and storage, 86 units - accommodation and food services, 34 units - information and communication, 125 units - public health and social work services, 392 units - other types.

As a result of improving the Classification of organizations related to small businesses and increasing the benefits for industrial small businesses and microfirms, the number of large commercial enterprises has a steady downward trend compared to 2011.

As of 1 January 2017, the number of operating enterprises with the foreign capital participation amounted to 5 thousand units.
The growth rate in the number of operating enterprises with foreign capital increased by 2,2 times compared to 2005.

As of 1 January 2017, in term of regions, the largest proportion of operating enterprises with the foreign capital participation accounted for the Tashkent city – 66,8 percent, as well as 10,7 percent for the Tashkent region.

As of 1 January 2017, in the total number of active enterprises with the foreign capital participation by types of economic activity, 45,0 percent accounted for industry, 19,3 percent - trade, 5,0 percent - construction, 4,3 per cent- accommodation and food services, 3,0 percent- transportation and storage, 2,5 percent - agriculture, forestry and fishing, 1,9 percent - information and communication, 1,3 percent – public health and social services, and 17,7 percent- other activities.

3.Small business
Registered small business entities
As a result of reforms undertaken to further liberalize the economy and modernize the country, the number of registered small business entities (excluding farmer and dekhkan farms) as of 1 January2017 amounted to 233,3 thousand units, which compared to 1 January 2013 increased by 26,7 thousand units.

Dynamics of newly created small business entities (excluding farmer and dekhkan farms) demonstrates growth. It should be noted that in 2012 the ratio of newly created small businesses to the total number of small business entities amounted to 11 percent, and in 2016 this figure exceeded 14 percent.

In the Republic of Uzbekistan, the number of operating small business entities (excluding farmer and dekhkan farms) as of 1 July 2017 amounted to 229,4 thousand units.
4.Development of family enterprises
As a result of the adoption of the Law "On family enterprises" a new organizational and legal form for the development of entrepreneurship has been created in our country. As of 1 January 2013 the number of family enterprises registered as a legal entity amounted to 424 units, in 2014 - 2700 units, in 2015 - 4645 units, in 2016 - 6363 units, in 2017 - 8689 units. Thus, only in the last year their increase amounted to 36,6 percent.

As of 1 January 2017, the number of operating family enterprises in the Republic was 8326 units.
Of the total number of family enterprises by types of economic activity, 38,2 percent accounted for industry, 19,4 percent – accommodation and food services, 15,7 percent-trade, 13,6 percent-agriculture, forestry and fishing, 1,5 percent - information and communication, 1,2 percent - construction and 10,4 percent- other activities.
