On December 16 this year, a seminar was held at the Institute of advanced training and statistical research under the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on statistics with the participation of heads of price statistics departments of territorial statistical offices, as well as employees of the price statistics Department of the Central office.
The seminar provided explanations on the main directions of improving the methodology for calculating price statistics in accordance with international statistical standards.
In particular, the mechanisms of effective tracking of price changes in consumer prices, a thorough analysis of factors affecting inflation processes in the domestic consumer market, as well as the formation of consumer price indices were considered. The criteria for sampling cities and districts for price monitoring were analyzed and explained, the importance of introducing modern technologies and maximizing the automation of price data collection and processing was emphasized. The advantages of the introduction of CAPI technology with the use of tablet devices at the stage of consumer price monitoring were considered. A separate issue on the agenda was the discussion of problematic issues in monitoring the prices of manufacturers of industrial goods, as well as the prices of raw materials purchased by them (updating the sample of enterprises and goods-representatives, the maximum coverage of various activities, conducting explanatory work with respondents, etc.).
The seminar conducted a detailed comparative analysis of the changes and additions to the approved forms of state statistical surveys for 2020 compared to 2019.
The seminar heard reports of the heads of Department of price statistics of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions and Tashkent city on completed in 2019 and critically reviewed the status of the execution of tasks defined in the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan №PP-3165, dated 31 July 2017.
In addition, the importance of compliance with performance discipline, deadlines for the preparation of information provided by the Program of state statistical works and personal responsibility for the quality of the data provided was stressed.
At the end of the training seminar, the participants of the seminar exchanged views on organizational issues of the price statistics departments, as well as the need for further provision of all necessary measures for timely and high-quality execution of assigned tasks was noted.
