On December 13, 2019, the Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent organized open data events "Open Data Day 2019", Hackathon "Open Data Challenge 2019" and training on "data Journalism, data visualization, software data processing", as well as a competition to prepare the best journalistic material based on open data. The event was attended by the management and heads of departments of the State Committee on statistics, as well as representatives of the media.
These events, that lasts three days are organized by the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on statistics, together with the Ministry for development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the face of the Technology Park of software products and information technologies (IT-park), the National Agency of project management under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the OSCE project Coordinator in Uzbekistan, the world Bank and the UN development Programme in Uzbekistan.
As it was noted at the event, the main goals of the hackathon “Open Data Challenge 2019” are the development of products using open data. This project involves a competition of teams aimed at the development of Open data in information technologies in the state, social networks, as well as entrepreneurship and the economy of Uzbekistan. The competition will be held in the form of a demonstration presentation of ideas.
Goskomstat has established constant monitoring of the placement and regular updating of open data by government bodies and organizations, as well as executive authorities on the open data portal and official websites of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In this direction, the open data portals of Great Britain, Korea, Singapore, Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan were studied.
The State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics, together with the National Agency for Project Management under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, from August 1, 2019 launched the English version of the open data portal of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The world experience has been studied and the necessary key indicators are being developed for publishing the relevant data categories on the open data portal of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which allow participating in the international ratings of the Republic of Uzbekistan “Global Open Data Index” and “Open Data Barometer”.
