On September 22-24, 2019, Jamshid Yoshniyazov, the chief specialist of the Department for the Compilation of Consolidated Analytical Information on Population, Demography and Labor Statistics of the State Statistics Committee, took part in the 5th seminar on International Labor Migration in the Asia-Pacific Region, held in Seoul (South Korea).

The main goal of the seminar is to inform the participants about the latest developments in the field of statistics on international labor migration (SMTM), to present a new ILO tool for collecting data on international labor migration, as well as to present the results of the collection of ILO data on statistics on international labor migration for 2018.

The seminar was attended by specialists from statistical agencies and labor ministries of countries such as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Fiji, Georgia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan, experts from the International Labor Organization (ILO), Korea Statistical Office (COSTAT), Korea Statistical Development Institute under the Korean Statistical Office.

During the seminar, presentations related to the activities of the International Labor Organization were presented, detailed information was provided on the questionnaires developed by the World Bank and the ILO on costing the process of attracting an international migrant. In addition, presentations were made by the countries participating in the seminar on international labor migration.
