On October 7-11, 2019 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, a seminar was held on the formation and dissemination of statistics on vital movement based on acts of civil status and other administrative sources. The seminar was organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the European Free Trade Association, and the Statistics Norway.

The seminar was attended by specialists from the Ministry of Justice and statistical agencies of the countries of North and Central Asia. From Goskomstat took part the chief specialist of the department for the formation of demographic indicators Olimjon Sidikov.

The purpose of this seminar is to assess the potential of countries to collect, summarize, review statistical data on the vital movement of the population, to determine the role of acts of civil status in the formation of statistical data on the natural behavior of the population. Also, the issues of determining the role of vital statistics in the indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals were examined in detail.
