On 24 September of the current year a round table was held at the National University of Uzbekistan on the topic “Work on preparation for population census conducted in our country in 2022 and achievement of SDG ”.
The event was attended by representatives of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics (Goskomstat), the Institute for Advanced Training and Statistical Studies, teaching staff and students, as well as media workers.
Vice-rector of the National University of Uzbekistan - A. Umarov, director of the Institute for Advanced Training and Statistical Studies of the Goskomstat - B. Gayibnazarov, head of the Department of Information Dissemination, International Cooperation and Information Exchange - O. Mamadaliev, head of the Department of Social and Sustainable Development Statistics - H. Murodkhujaev, and head of the Department of Demography and Labor Statistics - K. Berdikulov, expressed their views on this topic in the round table.
Representatives of the Goskomstat informed about the ongoing reforms in our country for the period until 2030 to achieve the sustainable development goals adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2015, as well as the work on the implementation of the Decree of our President “On Approval of Concept of Conducting Population Census in the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2022”.
In particular, it was noted that the draft law was developed after the Goskomstat formed the working group to create the draft Law "On Population Census" in the Republic of Uzbekistan with the participation of employees of relevant ministries and departments.
The draft law "On Population Census" created in accordance with international standards and best practices of foreign countries was sent to the relevant ministries and departments to supplement; also, the draft law has been submitted for public debate.
It was also noted during the round table that the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by the UN General Assembly covers 17 global goals and 169 targets.
At the end of the event the leadership and specialists of the Goskomstat answered in detail the questions that were asked by representatives of the media and students.
