The regional workshop on Consumer Price indices (CPIs) for countries of East Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia was held on 11 – 13 September 2019 in Minsk, Belarus. The workshop was organized in cooperation with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and the Interstate Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS-STAT) and with the support of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus.

Muzaffar Jomolov, head of the Division of Consumer Price Statistics and Consumer Price Index of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics took part in the workshop.

During the seminar an exchange of views took place on the problems of calculating the consumer price index in the participating countries, participants studied the international methodology for compiling price indices and cost weights. The participants made presentations on these topics, highlighted the practice of the participating countries. The prospects for solving urgent problems associated with the formation of the necessary statistical indicators were examined.

Participants noted the importance of the issues raised at the regional seminar, the practical experience of international experts in calculating the consumer price index, and the importance of the experience of participating countries for the development of statistics.
