On July 30, 2019 at 15:00 a press conference was held at the National Press Center on the topic “Increasing the statistical potential of the country and ensuring the openness and transparency of national statistics”.

The event was attended by representatives of the central office of the State Committee on Statistics, the statistical offices of the city of Tashkent and the Tashkent region, teachers of the center for retraining and statistical studies of the State Committee on Statistics, as well as members of the media.

As noted at the press conference, important changes and large-scale reforms are taking place in the economy and social life of our country. In recent years, along with other sectors of the economy, the sphere of statistics has been radically reformed, international standards and advanced world experience are being widely introduced into it.

In particular, the Resolution No. PP-3165 of July 31, 2017 “On Measures to Improve the Activities of the State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, Order of April 12, 2017 “On Measures to Ensure Openness and Transparency of Economic and Financial Information”, decree of February 5, 2019, No. UP-5655 “On Approving the Concept of Conducting a Population Census in the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2022” and Resolution No. PP-4273 of April 9, 2019 “On Additional Measures to Ensure Openness and Transparency government, as well as improving the country's statistical capacity".

To ensure the practical implementation of these documents, more than 10 government regulations and about 30 departmental documents have been adopted.

These regulatory documents and the tasks assigned to the system serve primarily to ensure the openness, transparency and transparency of the statistical sphere to the public, people, foreign and international organizations.

 

Also, restrictions on the dissemination of statistical information were lifted, with special attention being paid to ensuring their relevance during publication.

Large-scale measures are being taken to improve the statistical methodology and adapt to international standards. Experts of international organizations, which are advanced on the world arena, are involved in these events.

Consistent steps were taken to correctly and fully reflect the statistical indicators of our country at the global level. For example, information exchange has been established on the basis of 28 types of questionnaires from 12 international organizations. A connection has been established to the expanded common data distribution system of the International Monetary Fund. Within the framework of this system, a periodic publication of 422 types of indicators has been established.

There is close, effective cooperation with the media in ensuring openness and transparency. In collaboration on television, socio-economic videos are shown in various fields. Articles are published in newspapers and magazines.

From the beginning of the year, the information service based on indicators of industry, enterprises and organizations, inflation, services, construction and investment, foreign trade, as well as visits of the Head of State to the regions and foreign countries constantly broadcasts over 50 infographic videos on “Uzbekistan 24” and “Uzbekistan” TV channels.

In a number of publications such as Khalқ sozi ”,“ People’s Word ”,“ Pravda Vostoka ”,“ Itодisodiy Gazeta ”,“ Ҳurriyat ”,“ Jamiyat ”,“ Ishonch ”,“ Oil davrasida ”and others published materials reflecting more than 50 statistical indicators.

According to the State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, more than 250 news have been covered on the most popular websites for the 6 months of this year.

In order to publicize the essence and significance of the tasks defined in the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Approval of the Concept of the Population Census in the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2022”, more than 570 speeches on television, radio, newspapers and Internet sites were made on a regular basis.

In January-June 2019, weekly news on prices for certain types of food products sold by the Price Administration in the central dekhkan markets of the republic is brought to the attention of users via Internet sites and TV channels.

In January-July 2019 (as of July 30, 2019), the State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan published 201 various statistical and analytical materials, including 111 press releases, 68 analytical information materials and 20 annual analytical materials.

At the press conference, it was noted that at the end of each month, the monthly press releases of the information service of the State Committee on Statistics are posted on the official page of the committee www.stat.uz, as well as in the form of infographic clips on the TV channel “Uzbekistan 24”, on the official pages of social networksFacebook and Telegram messenger (UZSTAT) of the State Committee on Statistics are brought to the attention of users.

On the Facebook page of the head of the information service of the State Committee on Statistics, more than 600 are posted, and in the Telegram group - more than 977 news and infographic clips.

At the same time, on the part of the State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, seminars and round tables are regularly held at leading higher educational institutions of the country, where statistical data on the main socio-economic indicators of the country are published and widely reported in the media.

At a press conference, specialists of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics answered the questions of journalists in detail.
