On April 30, 2019, at 12:00, a press conference was held at the National Press Center of Uzbekistan on the topic "Increasing the statistical potential of the country, ensuring the openness of statistical information."


The event was attended by the Chief of the State Committee on Statistics, heads of departments of the central office, employees of statistical departments of the Tashkent region and the city of Tashkent, as well as representatives of the media.

As noted at the press conference, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PP-4273 dated April 9, 2019 “On additional measures to ensure the openness and transparency of state department, as well as increase the statistical potential of the country”, the State  Committee of Uzbekistan on Statistics responsible for coordinating the activities of state bodies and organizations in the formation, maintenance and updating of the list of open data sets and the timely reflection of relevant information on the Portal of open data of the Republic of Uzbekistan (data.gov.uz).

Based on this decree, a task was set up, based on the Open Data Maturity Model and other international practices, to develop and implement a mechanism for evaluating the activities of government bodies and organizations in the field of open data with a quarterly publication of results on the Open Data Portal.

Information was also provided that today, in order to increase the statistical capacity of the country, to ensure the openness of statistical information and its placement on the Open Data Portal of the Republic of Uzbekistan, an Inter-Agency Working Group consisting of about 200 employees from 65 ministries and departments has been established and is working.

 

Summing up the press conference, it was emphasized that the main purpose of the activities carried out by state statistics bodies is to reflect open and reliable data on socio-economic changes and reforms taking place in the Republic of Uzbekistan and to place these data in the databases of international organizations and leading ratings.

 

At the press conference, State Committee on statistics specialists provided detailed answers to all questions that interested the media representatives.
