At a meeting on measures to improve national statistics chaired by the head of state on June 1, 2020, the issue of human resources was raised and instructions were given to train and improve the skills of all specialists in the statistical system.
In order to ensure the fulfillment of these tasks, a memorandum was signed between the State Committee on Statistics and the Tashkent State Economic University, in which the “Scientific and Practical Laboratory of Statistics” was opened. It regularly hosts various events of practical importance.
On February 17 this year, the head of the Department of Macroeconomic Indicators and National Accounts of the State Committee on Statistics Aziz Mamirov held a practical master class on the topic “Methodology and practice of calculating the GDP indicator” for students of the Tashkent State Economic University. The purpose of this seminar is to improve the knowledge and skills of students in the order and methods of calculating macroeconomic indicators, formed and published by statistical authorities.
During the master class, the general concepts of the GDP indicator and methods of its calculation, the experience of calculating GDP in Uzbekistan, the main directions for improving the methodology for calculating GDP, as well as the analysis of GDP indicators in Uzbekistan were discussed.
Students, masters, researchers, higher education institutions in general are the main users of statistical information. The importance of this meeting is that the statistical information is understandable and transparent for all users.
A permanent continuation of such practically significant master classes has been established. At these master classes, students and applicants receive answers to their questions in the field of statistics and acquire practical knowledge and skills in the formation of statistical indicators.
