On February 1 of this year, a seminar was held on assessing the gender pay gap in the Republic of Uzbekistan, organized at the initiative of the ILO at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Tashkent.

The event was attended by representatives of the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan and a number of experts from other organizations in this field.
This seminar was devoted to an overview of the ILO methodology used in calculating the gender pay gap, the main trends in the field of the gender pay gap in Uzbekistan, and the possibilities of using national data to assess the gender pay gap.

The Agency of Statistics was represented by the head and deputy head of the Department for the formation of indicators of the balance of labor resources, employment and wages, Tashmukhamedov Umid and Tairova Aliya, as well as the chief specialist of the Department for the formation of consolidated analytical information on demography, labor and gender statistics, Khojakulova Gulhumor.

During the discussion, representatives of ministries and departments focused on the work done to ensure gender equality in pay in Uzbekistan. Issues of achieving gender equality in pay were also discussed, and recommendations were made to improve data collection.
