The session discussed in detail the collection and processing of basic statistical data on national SDGs, the census of the population of Uzbekistan, international experience in collecting statistical data, as well as the establishment of inter-parliamentary cooperation for the implementation of the SDGs.

Today, there is a need to further improve the quality of statistical information, create full-fledged databases of statistical indicators, bring them in line with international standards, which requires improving the national statistical system, increasing the objectivity and reliability of statistical data.

It was noted that the developed Law "On Official Statistics" will create an institutional basis for international recognition of official statistics.

The inclusion in the Law of such norms was highly appreciated, according to which no one should interfere with the legitimate activities of statistical bodies, in particular, in the processes of collecting official statistical reports and conducting observations, as well as publishing and publishing their results, territorial state statistics bodies are independent from local authorities state power.

It is recognized that the regulation of the national statistical system in accordance with international standards, as well as compliance by producers of official statistics with international principles in the collection, processing and dissemination of data, contributes to the provision of quality official statistics.
