On September 10 this year, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees at the United Nations organized an online international conference on “Ending Statelessness in Central Asia”.

This conference was attended by representatives of the countries of Central Asia. The Republic of Uzbekistan was represented by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Health, the State Committee on Statistics and the National Center for Human Rights.

The main goal of the conference:

- to review international standards in the field of statelessness and promote accession to the 1954 and 1961 Conventions. about statelessness;

- to provide a common understanding of the situation in the field of statelessness in the region, in relation to the size of the stateless population, as well as all the cases and consequences of this phenomenon;

- to assess the overall progress in eradicating statelessness in Central Asia in the context of the global #IBelong Campaign to eliminate statelessness.osiyoichi3100921
