On October 5 of this year, the 10th Session of the Statistical Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (SESRIC) began its work by videoconference.
For reference: SESRIC - Center for Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training for Islamic Countries, is the executive body of the Bureau of the Statistical Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The event, organized by videoconference, is attended by the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics, headed by the Chairman of the Committee Begalov Bakhodir Abdusalomovich.
The purpose of the event is to discuss the development of official statistics in the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, strengthening the capacity for national statistical offices to produce, disseminate and analyze data in accordance with international standards.
On the agenda of the Session, which will be held from October 5 to October 7, delegates from Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the Pacific will hear reports and consider initiatives.
In particular, the agenda of the session includes the following issues:
✓ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): monitoring and reporting on SDG indicators;
✓ Round of the 2020 World Population and Housing Census Program: Editing the Population and Housing Census;
✓ Discussion of new approaches to strengthening the capacity of national statistical systems.
