Joint Task Force on Environmental Statistics and Indicators The United Nations is assisting countries in Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia in their efforts to: Commissions (ECE) of the United Nations in accordance with international statistical standards; b) capacity building in the implementation of the System of Environmental and Economic Accounting; c) Strengthening capacity for the compilation and integration of environmental data to support measurement of progress in sustainable development and green economy initiatives.

The event is attended by representatives of the European Environment Agency, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), representatives and experts from other international organizations dealing with environmental statistics.

On the agenda of the meeting, the Task Force will consider the general principles for the production of environmental statistics in the UNECE region, an action plan for capacity-building under the UNDA project, as well as other ongoing and planned capacity-building activities related to environmental statistics and indicators (SDGs, UNEP). amendments to the regulatory framework and revision of the EEC Guidelines on the Application of Environmental Indicators.

The event heard reports from UNECE, UNDP, the Austrian Environmental Protection Agency, Public Health England, national statistical services of Armenia, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova.
