On March 3 this year, a round table was organized at the Windham Hotel in Tashkent to discuss analytical developments on the topic “Demographic aspects of the development of the education system in Uzbekistan” and “Actual issues of the labor market in connection with prospective changes in the working-age population in the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
The round table, organized jointly by the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), was attended by representatives of relevant organizations, as well as the media.


The chairman of the State Committee on Statistics Bakhodir Abdusalomovich Begalov took part in the round table online. He stressed that the demographic situation plays an important role in the socio-economic development of the country, as well as in the implementation of state policy in the field of education, the labor market, employment and unemployment.


The increase in the country's permanent population for 2021 amounted to 712.4 thousand people, or 2.1%, and as of January 1 of this year, it reached 35.3 million people.
The results of statistical observations show that the population of the republic annually increases by an average of 700 thousand people.

The bulk of the population, i.e. 57.6% are people of working age, 31.2% are younger than working age and 11.2% are older than working age.
The head of the committee noted that these developments will play an important role in the further development of short-term and long-term programs in the field of demography and the labor market in our country.


Remind that, this round table was organized in order to ensure the fulfillment of the tasks defined by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 28, 2022 No. UP-60 “On the development strategy of the new Uzbekistan for 2022-2026”.
