On May 31 of this year, in connection with May 31 - World No Tobacco Day, a round table was held at the International Hotel Tashkent on the topic: “Tobacco is a threat to our environment”.
The main purpose of the round table is to reduce the distribution and consumption of alcohol and tobacco products among the population, as well as to protect the environment from tobacco.
The event was attended by members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, deputies of the Legislative Chamber, representatives of various ministries and departments, international organizations and the media.
The chief specialist of the information service of the State Committee on Statistics Aziza Mukhamedova took part in the round table.
The event was opened by Lianne Kuppens, Head of the World Health Organization Office in Uzbekistan.
At the event, presentations were also made by a member of the Committee for the Protection of the Health of Citizens of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Kyzylgul Kasimova, an employee of the World Health Organization office in Uzbekistan Nazokathon Kasimova.
During the round table, the participants expressed their opinion about electronic cigarettes and other intoxicating tobacco products, which are increasingly common among the population today, and what aspects need to be addressed so that these harmful products do not become popular among young people.
At the end of the event, questions and answers were held on this topic among students of higher educational institutions, media workers and organizers of the event.
