As of January 1, 2022, there are 2,537 automatic telephone exchanges (ATS) in the republic, of which 2,083 (82.1%) are located in urban areas and 454 (17.9%) - in rural areas.
In addition, the total number of telephones connected to the ATS (without payphones) is 1,652.9 thousand units, of which 1 297.7 thousand (78.5%) are in-house telephones.
