On March 13, 2024, the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with experts from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), organized a meeting on the topic “Further improvement of the Open Data Portal and the use of artificial intelligence technologies in statistical system”.
The meeting was attended by employees of the central office headed by Deputy Director of the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ziyayev Zoxidjon Muratovich, as well as experts from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
The following issues were discussed during the event:
- promoting the practical use of open data;
- improvement of the Open Data Portal of the Republic of Uzbekistan by creating opportunities for the placement of geospatial data;
- acceleration of startup projects using open data;
- increasing the number of automatically hosted datasets through integration with the Open Data Portal;
- increasing the number of datasets hosted on the Open Data Portal and improving their quality;
- Integration of departmental information systems and resources of government agencies with the Open Data Portal;
- issues of using big data in the statistical system, the use of artificial intelligence technologies, as well as the introduction of DATA SCIENCE in this area.
At the end of the event, experts from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) made their relevant recommendations and proposals for the development of the open data ecosystem in our country.
