On March 27, 2024, a press conference was held at the Agency of Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the topic “Results of the activities of the Statistics Agency and upcoming tasks.”

The press conference was attended by management and heads of departments of the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of the media and bloggers.

As noted at the press conference, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated March 4, 2024 No. PP-114 “On measures to organize the activities of the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan” in order to introduce basic principles of ensuring the quality of official statistics into the national statistical system United Nations:
- statistical data will be generated based on the international GSBPM model;
- each producer of official statistics will develop a policy for the quality and dissemination of official statistics;
- a global assessment of the national statistical system will be organized with the wide involvement of international experts.
In order to introduce an outsourcing system in the field of statistics, consulting companies, higher educational institutions and research institutes will be involved in the process of conducting statistical observations.

Integration processes in the system will be radically improved. In particular, the integration of the Integrated Information System “Statistics” with the data of information systems of 6 ministries and departments, as well as with the Interdepartmental Information Platform of the “Electronic Government” system will be established.

In addition, in order to determine and increase the level of user satisfaction with the data of the Statistics Agency, the Agency will develop a methodology “Index of Confidence in Official Statistical Data”, and annually, starting from 2025, surveys will be conducted among users with the publication of their results.

A “Road Map” for deepening reforms in the field of official statistics and transforming the system’s activities, as well as target indicators (indicators) to be achieved by the statistics agency in 2024-2025, have also been defined.

Full and high-quality implementation of the tasks set in the resolution, and the transparency of statistical data will further increase the confidence of the international community in the statistics of Uzbekistan.
In accordance with the Program of Statistical Works in 2023, 3,302 statistical works were completed on time, of which 1,830 were carried out by statistical authorities.

In total, the Statistics Agency generated 1439 indicators, of which:
macroeconomic indicators and balances – 500;
indicators of economic sectors – 604;
social indicators – 183;
Unified State Register of Enterprises and Organizations - 152.
In the direction of improving the methodology and coordination of the industry, 111 statistical works were carried out.

Also, the exchange of open statistical data on 46 international questionnaires has been ensured.
At the same time, 559 administrative data were transferred to statistical bodies by other ministries, departments and organizations for the preparation of official statistics.
In addition, 913 statistical papers were prepared and disseminated by other compilers of official statistics within their competence.

In 2023, 49 questionnaires from international organizations were completed, including 10 from the UN Statistics Division, 5 from the UN Economic Commission for Europe, 9 from the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, 7 from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN, 2 from the International Labor Organization, 2 from the International Telecommunication Union and 14 other international organizations.
In addition, Uzbekistan’s indicators were timely updated in 4 international databases, in particular within the framework of the common information dissemination system of the IMF, CIS, COMTRADE and TRANSMONEE.

In accordance with the statistical program, the work done was regularly brought to the attention of national and foreign users in the form of open statistics, newsletters, collections, press releases, as well as through the media, official websites and social networks.

In the “Official Statistics” section of the Agency’s official website, 498 sets of statistical data have been published in a number of statistical areas.
In total, statistical authorities used 30 sample statistical observations and 98 statistical reports when compiling official statistics.
