Today, October 27, an important political event is taking place in our country – the elections for the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and local councils.
For reference, this year’s parliamentary elections are being held for the first time under a majoritarian-proportional (mixed) system. In this system, electoral districts are divided into single-member constituencies and a single nationwide constituency. Of the deputies in the lower house of parliament, 75 are elected from single-member constituencies through the majoritarian system (candidate-based voting), while the remaining 75 are elected under the proportional system based on votes given to political parties (by party lists). This approach contributes to conducting elections in a more transparent manner.
During these election processes, employees of the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan are actively participating, fulfilling their civic duties.
Participating in such political events and voting for the candidate and party that best represent their future is the duty of every citizen, of each and every one of our compatriots.
