On December 5, 2024, the 71st meeting of the Council of Heads of Statistical Services of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held online in the form of a videoconference.
The meeting was attended by the heads of the Interstate Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as the statistical agencies of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and the Russian Federation, who discussed the items on the agenda.
The meeting was also attended online by the staff of the Central Office led by the Director of the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bahodir Abdusalomovich Begalov.
Bahodir Abdusalomovich Begalov noted at the meeting that the tasks of the work program of the CIS Interstate Statistical Committee for 2025 cover priority areas and align with the interests of the CIS region's statistical systems. In particular, he highlighted the continuation of Uzbekistan's participation in the International Comparison Program for 2024, updating data on Uzbekistan's progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on the information platform of the CIS Statistical Committee's website, preparation for the 2026 population census in the Republic of Uzbekistan, and other key aspects.
The meeting also discussed the work program of the Interstate Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States for 2025, the progress of the "Development of CIS Statistics" project in 2024 and its work plan for 2025, the process of developing professional skills in the field of statistics, the matter of presidency in the Council of Heads of Statistical Services of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2025, and a number of other issues. Relevant decisions were made on the discussed matters.
