On January 7 of the current year, a remote meeting with World Bank representatives took place at the Statistics Agency.
The meeting was attended by Mukhtor Umarov, Head of the Price Statistics Department of the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Umid Madaminov, Head of the Living Standards and Population Surveys Statistics Department, as well as World Bank working group members Ikuko Uochi and Darya Miroshnokova.

In order to calculate the poverty index for Uzbekistan, the World Bank Group is thoroughly examining the implementation process of the International Comparison Program (ICP) based on Uzbekistan's 2021 Purchasing Power Parity (PPP). Additionally, the Statistics Agency is conducting a detailed analysis of the price monitoring practices and methodology applied during 2017-2021.

The parties discussed the current practice of price monitoring, some historical price data for 2017-2021, the methodology for calculating the consumer price index adopted by the Statistics Agency, as well as issues concerning the impact of price changes on poverty levels.

The parties agreed to continue cooperation and consultations in this area.
