According to the National Statistics Committee, as of January 1, 2025, there are 14,999 libraries operating in Uzbekistan.

They have 85 million copies of books and magazines.

The number of users was 12.8 million people, of which 31.6 % were children under the age of 14, 45.9 % were adolescents aged 15-24, and 22.6 % were citizens aged 25 and over.

The number of libraries by region is as follows:

Republic of Karakalpakstan - 934;

Andijan region - 1,065;

Bukhara region - 764;

Jizzakh region - 868;

Kashkadarya region - 1,476;

Navoi region - 489;

Namangan region - 891;

Samarkand region - 1,863;

Surkhandarya region - 1,159;

Syrdarya region - 526;

Tashkent region - 1,467;

Fergana region - 2,108;

Khorezm region - 688;

Tashkent city - 701.

The number of libraries includes libraries of all educational institutions in the country, information resource centers of local authorities, as well as all information and library centers of ministries, departments, and organizations subordinate to them.
