From March 3 to March 6, 2026, the 57th session of the United Nations Statistical Commission is taking place in New York, USA.
The event is organized by the UN Statistics Division and brings together representatives from more than 200 countries, including 34 member states of the Commission.
A delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by the Chairman of the National Statistics Committee is also participating in the session.

It is worth noting that starting from January 1, 2026, the Republic of Uzbekistan became the first country in Central Asia to be elected as a member of the Bureau of the UN Statistical Commission for the period 2026–2029.
Accordingly, Uzbekistan is participating in the 57th session for the first time as a member of the Bureau.
The agenda of the session includes discussions on the current state and future development of official statistics systems, strengthening institutional and human resource capacity, the System of National Accounts 2025, the 2030 round of population and housing censuses, social and demographic statistics, the use of big data and artificial intelligence, data governance, and the modernization of statistical activities.

In addition, within the framework of the 57th session, meetings dedicated to the outcomes of the 14th session of the Statistical Council of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, discussions on agricultural censuses, and participation in the open meeting of the Bureau of the Statistical Committee of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) are planned.
This session serves as an important platform for further improving Uzbekistan’s national statistical system in line with international standards, introducing best practices, and expanding international cooperation.
The session will continue until March 6.
