On 17 August, the National Statistics Committee was visited by Mariana Toteva, an expert from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and Rasmiya Aliyeva, FAO Regional Statistician for Europe and Central Asia.

The main purpose of the visit is to review and compare existing data and methodologies in the field of agricultural statistics, as well as to improve integrated and modular approaches to annual agricultural statistics.

As part of the visit, a meeting was held on 18 August with the participation of B. Khamraev, Chairman of the National Statistics Committee, responsible staff members of the central office, and FAO experts.

The meeting discussed the reconciliation of data generated through the census of agriculture and regular statistical surveys, the identification of discrepancies between them, and the analysis of their underlying causes.

The parties also exchanged views on harmonizing the concepts, definitions, classifications and methodologies used in agricultural statistics, as well as ensuring data consistency, accuracy and continuity.

Particular attention was given to incorporating international experience and methodological approaches to data reconciliation into national statistical practice and identifying further measures.

The FAO experts’ visit to the National Statistics Committee will continue until 21 August.
