Deputy Chairman of the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan
Rustem Makhammadiev was born on November 13, 1988, in Tashkent. He is Uzbek by nationality. He holds a higher education degree, having graduated from the Tashkent Institute of Finance in 2010 with a major in Finance, and from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 2017.
From 2011 to 2013, he worked at the Payment Systems and Informatization Department of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan as Leading and then Chief Economist in the Payment Systems and Settlements Division.
From 2013 to 2014, he served as Chief Economist at the Payment Systems and Settlements Division of the Payment Systems and Information Technologies Department of the Central Bank.
From 2014 to 2017, he worked as Deputy Head of the Press Service of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In 2017, he acted as Chief Economist of the Monetary Policy Department, in the Division for the Analysis of Money and Financial Markets and Inflation in the Economy, at the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
From 2017 to 2018, he served as Head of the Division for the Analysis and Forecasting of Price Dynamics under the Inflation Analysis and Forecasting Directorate of the Monetary Policy Department of the Central Bank.
From 2018 to 2019, he headed the Inflation Analysis and Forecasting Directorate of the Monetary Policy Department of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
From 2019 to 2021, Mr. Makhammadiev worked as Advisor to the Executive Director at the headquarters of the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C.
From 2021 to 2025, he successfully served as Director of the Financial Stability Department of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
On August 21, 2025, by Presidential Decree No. PQ-257, Rustem Makhammadiev was appointed Deputy Chairman of the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
He is married and has one child.
