Deputy Chairman of the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan
Rustem Makhammadiev was born on 13 November 1988 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the Tashkent Financial Institute (2010) and an MBA from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST, 2017).
From January 2011 to August 2011, he served as Lead Economist in the Payment Systems Department of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan;
from August 2011 to February 2014, as Senior Economist in the same department;
from February 2014 to April 2017, he was Deputy Head of the Central Bank’s Press Service;
in April–December 2017, he worked as a Senior Economist in the Monetary Policy Department;
in December 2017–April 2018, he headed the Inflation Modelling and Forecasting Unit of the Monetary Policy Department;
in April 2018–March 2019, he led the Inflation Division of the Monetary Policy Department;
from March 2019 to September 2021, Mr. Makhammadiev served as Advisor to the Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC;
from October 2021 to August 2025, he was Director of the Financial Stability Department at the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
On 21 August 2025, by Presidential Resolution No. PQ-257, he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
He is married and has one child.
