June 28, 2021 Center for Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Professional Development for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) jointly with UNCTAD organized a videoconferencing workshop on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Statistics in OIC Countries.
The main objective of the webinar is to raise awareness of internationally recognized standards and guidelines for collecting data on (FDI) and the activities of transnational companies (TNCs); highlight the latest methodologies and trends in statistics (FDI) that will pave the way for strengthening and improving statistics. It will also help to improve the capacity of OIC countries to collect, compile, process and disseminate statistics on (FDI) and activities (TNCs).
The online seminar covered such issues as, “Concepts, definitions and measurements of foreign direct investment”, “Collecting data on foreign direct investment”, “Statistics of foreign branches of multinational companies” and others.
Seminar participants heard reports from Mr. Bolviin, Head of Investment and Entrepreneurship Department of UNCTAD, Mr. Fleumann Head of Financial Accounts Department of the Swiss National Bank, Ms. Sulstarova, Head of Trends and Data Section, UNCTAD and other international experts.
The State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics at the seminar was represented by Zhavlan Saipov - Deputy Head of the Investment and Construction Statistics Department.
At the end of the seminar, the participants agreed to continue cooperation on all topical issues of statistical practice.
