On October 19 this year, at the Palace of Youth Creativity, a round table was held with the participation of international experts on the topic "Openness and transparency of the activities of state bodies: the experience of Uzbekistan and foreign practice."
The event was attended by the heads and officials of the Anti-Corruption Agency, the State Committee on Statistics, the Creative Union of Journalists, the Agency for Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, deputies of the Senate and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis. The event was also attended by foreign experts, youth, media workers.
The purpose of the event is to conduct the activities of state bodies on the basis of the principles of publicity, improve dialogue between state organizations and the population, as well as further improve cooperation with the media.
During the round table, Chairman of the State Committee on Statistics Begalov Bakhodir Abdusalomovich made a presentation on the work on openness and transparency in the statistics system, as well as on the activities of the Open Data Portal.
In particular, detailed information was provided on the laws and regulations adopted in recent years, changes carried out in the framework of their implementation, work in cooperation with international organizations.
It was also emphasized that as a result of the joint work of the Republic of Uzbekistan with international organizations and experts during 2020, high results were achieved in a number of ratings and indices in the field of open data.
Including:
- in the rating of open data “Open Data Inventory” (ODIN), the Republic of Uzbekistan scored 63 points and rose in the rating by 125 positions, taking 44th place in the world and 1st place in Central Asia;
- the official website of Goskomstat on the evaluation system of the Open Data Institute (ODI) in London received the highest - "Platinum" (PLATINUM) level;
- according to "Open Data Inception", Uzbekistan ranks 5th in the world in terms of the number of open data sources with 99 open data sources.
At the end of the round table, the speakers answered in detail the questions of journalists and bloggers.
