On September 22, 2022, the State Committee on Statistics hosted a seminar on the development of open data in Uzbekistan, improving the position of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Open Data Inventory (ODIN) and other international rankings.

The event was attended by well-known open data expert Jamison Crowell from Open Data Watch, staff from the Office of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan, the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics and the e-Government Project Management Center.

The following issues were discussed at the event:

  • improving the position of the Republic of Uzbekistan in international ratings and indices in the field of open data, such as Open Data Inventory (ODIN), Global Data Barometer (GDB), etc.;
  • the current state of the open data ecosystem in the Republic of Uzbekistan;
  • prospects and directions for further development of open data in the Republic of Uzbekistan;
  • “Open Data Policy” in Uzbekistan;
  • further development of the digital data platform for use in software based on artificial intelligence on the Open Data Portal of the Republic of Uzbekistan data.egov.uz;
  • filling in the missing data of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the databases of international organizations, such as the UN Statistics Database (Un data), World Development Indicators, the World Bank (WDI) and others;
  • standard forms of socially significant information subject to mandatory placement by state bodies and organizations on their official websites and the Open Data Portal of the Republic of Uzbekistan data.egov.uz;
  • proposals to improve existing legislative acts on the introduction of a system of certification of socially significant information when posted on official websites and the Open Data Portal of the Republic of Uzbekistan data.egov.uz.
