From February 26 to March 8 of this year, an advanced level training course was held in Washington, USA, organized by the Statistics Department of the International Monetary Fund on the topic “High-frequency indicators of economic activity – Quarterly national accounts”.

This training course was attended by representatives of services responsible for compiling national accounts statistics for countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, the Caucasus, Oceania and South America.

Khusniddin Mamatmuradov, Deputy Head of the Division of Formation and Analysis of Macroeconomic Indicators of the Department of Macroeconomic Indicators and National Accounts of the Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, took part in the training course.

The main objective of the course was to develop knowledge and skills of participants as well as to address theoretical and practical issues related to the nature and potential use of high-frequency statistics of economic activity, the selection of indicators, the consistency between quarterly national accounts and annual national accounts, seasonal adjustment, data dissemination and revision.

During the course, participants shared their experiences on improving data sources and calculation methods needed for formation of quarterly national accounts indicators.
