On April 18-19, 2024, the twenty-sixth session of the Working Group on Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), was held in Geneva (Switzerland).

The session was also attended by representatives of the Earth Observation Group, the European Commission, the European Environment Agency, the European Space Agency, the United Nations Environment Program, the UN Economic Commission for Europe, environmental specialists and representatives of statistical services from the countries of Austria and Azerbaijan , Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Romania, Macedonia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Finland.

The event was attended by Gulomov Shovkat, head of the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Statistics of the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The session aimed to explore various international, regional and national initiatives undertaken or planned to promote the integration and modernization of environmental data in support of the environmental assessment process, progress in environmental monitoring and assessment, experiences of countries in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia, and also ways to achieve the SDGs.
