On May 6-8, 2024, a meeting of the expert group of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe on "Migration statistics", as well as on "Refugees, internally displaced persons and stateless persons" was held in Geneva, Switzerland.
These events were attended by specialists from the national statistical offices of the UN member states, analysts of international organizations, specialized UN agencies, organizations that produce or use statistical data on international migration, refugees, internally displaced persons and stateless persons.
Yuldoshev Zoyir Toshkanovich, Head of the Department of Demography, Labor and Gender Statistics, and Kobil Gulamovich Berdikulov, Head of the Department of Organization and Conducting of Census Processes of the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, took part as representatives of Uzbekistan.
During the events, the participating countries exchanged experience in maintaining statistics on migration, refugees, internally displaced persons and statelessnes, maintaining records of new forms of informal migration and international migration, improving the use of administrative data for migration statistics, and also discussed proposals and approaches for improving statistics on forced displacement and stateless persons.
