On May 17 of this year, an international seminar was held at the Hyatt Regency Tashkent hotel within the framework of the Global Program “Every Woman and Girl Is Important”, organized by the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to assess the potential of gender statistics in our country.
The event was attended by employees of the Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan under the leadership of Deputy Director Ziyaev Zohijon Muratovich, UN gender experts A. Negruta and T. Tsekvava, specialists from the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, the Ministry of Higher Education education, science and innovation, representatives of the Central Bank, the Central Election Commission, the National Center for Human Rights, the Cadastre Agency under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the National Agency for Social Protection, the Tax Committee, as well as experts from a number of industry organizations.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss mechanisms for coordinating priorities to improve the system of planning, production and distribution of gender statistics, analysis and dissemination of gender assessments, facilitating the exchange of knowledge through the exchange of best practices in the international and national context.
At the same time, it was noted that the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated March 7, 2019 No. PP-4235 approved the list of minimum gender indicators and other information that should be posted on the website “Gender.stat.uz”, as well as the Resolution The Senate of the Oliy Majlis dated May 28, 2021 No. PS-297-IV approved 61 target indicators of the Strategy for achieving gender equality in the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030.
During the seminar, discussions were held, results were summed up, and experts answered questions on the topic in detail.
