On April 24 of this year, a round table on the topic "Data-Based Research and Evidence-Based Policy in Uzbekistan" was organized at the International Westminster University in Tashkent in cooperation with the National Statistical Committee, the World Bank Representative Office in Uzbekistan, and the Center for Applied Research at the International Westminster University in Tashkent.

The event was attended by Ikuko Uochi, Senior Economist of the World Bank in Uzbekistan; Komiljon Akramov, representative of the International Food Policy Research Institute; Behzod Egamberdiev from the Center for Police Research and Outreach; Bahrom Mirkasimov, Vice-Rector of Westminster International University, professors, researchers, as well as specialists from the National Statistics Committee headed by Deputy Chairman Ziyaev Zohidjon Muratovich and representatives of relevant ministries and departments.


During the round table, the Deputy Chairman of the National Statistics Committee spoke about the transparency of statistical data and the promising changes that have been implemented in the industry in recent years.

In addition, Shokhrukh Odilov, Head of the Department for Digital Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, and Statistical Registers, gave a presentation on the topic “Using the Integrated Information System ‘Statistics’ and Its Capabilities.”

The presentation noted that the SIAT information system contains a total of more than 2,900 official statistical indicators, 10-year dynamic series, as well as 30-year macro indicators in 5-year intervals, in 3 different formats (Excel, PDF and JPG) for convenient and free download to users, and in 3 different formats (CSV, JSON and XML) for independent integration, and is constantly updated.

The "siat.stat.uz" portal has introduced modules for comparing data in the form of interactive graphs, histograms and diagrams, as well as forming a rating and establishing relationships between indicators.
Experts from international organizations also made presentations on this topic.

At the end of the round table, specialists of the National Statistics Committee answered in detail all the questions of the participants.
