Based on the results of 2024, the Republic of Uzbekistan rose to 12th place among 198 countries in the Open Data Inventory (ODIN), scoring 83 points and retaining 1st place in the Central Asia.
For reference, the Open Data Inventory promotes open data policy, identifies shortcomings in official statistics, improves dialogue between national statistical agencies and data users, and assesses openness.
In this ranking, Uzbekistan rose 18 positions compared to the 2023 results (when it ranked 30th in the world with 70 points among 195 countries). This result was achieved through the following measures:
Ensuring comprehensive statistical data coverage:
- Publishing specific types of statistical data by regions, industries, and years, allowing for a comprehensive assessment of the country's socio-economic development;
- Publishing statistical data in time series for the past 5 and 10 years;
- Publishing statistical data at the first and second administrative levels, that is, at the regional and district levels in Uzbekistan`s case.
Ensuring the openness of statistical data:
- Publishing statistical data together with metadata;
- Publishing statistical data in user-friendly formats;
- Expanding options for downloading statistical data.
To meet the aforementioned user requests and needs, as well as to create convenient conditions, the State Committee on Statistics launched the portal of the integrated information system "Statistics" (SIAT).
To date, the SIAT information system presents more than 2,900 official statistical indicators, published free of charge and in a convenient form in three languages and five different formats with metadata.
The launch of this portal and its capabilities received a positive assessment from experts of the Open Data Watch organization and became a significant factor in improving Uzbekistan's position in the ODIN ranking.
Previously, Uzbekistan's rankings in the ODIN were as follows:
- in 2017 - 167th place among 180 countries with 18 points;
- in 2018 - 168th place among 178 countries with 19 points;
- in 2020 - 44th place among 187 countries with 63 points;
- in 2022 - 40th place among 192 countries with 66 points;
- in 2023 - 30th place among 195 countries with 70 points.
