On May 16 of this year, a legal awareness event was held at the Statistics Department of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. The purpose of the event was to explain the content, objectives, and tasks of regulatory and legal documents related to the fight against corruption, define priority areas in combating corruption, and strengthen employees' intolerance toward corrupt practices within the sector.

The event was opened by the head of the Statistics Department of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, T. Ganiyev, who then gave the floor to V. Tukhtaev, Head of the Legal Division of the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In his speech, V. Tukhtaev emphasized that the fight against corruption is one of the most pressing global issues today. He also provided an overview of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Combating Corruption” and the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 595 dated October 10, 2022, “On Additional Measures to Ensure Compliance with Ethical Standards by Civil Servants.”

Soliyev, Lead Specialist of the Internal Anti-Corruption Control Service of the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, continued the session, stressing that corruption is a destructive force that undermines the state. He also explained the provisions of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Conflict of Interest” to participants and emphasized the importance of avoiding conflicts of interest, maintaining a zero-tolerance attitude toward corruption, and adhering to ethical standards of behavior.

At the end of the event, detailed answers were provided to participants’ questions.
