On September 30 of this year, the National Press Center hosted a press conference organized by the National Statistics Committee, dedicated to the essence and significance of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PF-173 dated September 19, 2025, “On Conducting the Population and Agricultural Census in the Republic of Uzbekistan.”

The event was attended by the leadership and responsible staff of the National Statistics Committee, representatives of the Uzbekistan Mahalla Association, as well as media representatives.

During the press conference, detailed information was provided about the importance of the Decree, the procedures for conducting the population and agricultural census, the areas of application of the collected data, and other significant aspects.

It was emphasized that the last population census in Uzbekistan was conducted in 1989. Taking into account the significant changes in demographic and economic indicators, a comprehensive population and agricultural census is scheduled to be held from January 15 to February 28, 2026.
The process will be carried out in two stages: during the first 17 days, online registration will be available through the census.stat.uz portal using the OneID system; during the following month, data will be collected through door-to-door visits with the participation of members of the “mahalla seven.”

The census questionnaire consists of 71 questions: 54 related to the population and 17 to agriculture. These include questions on key demographic indicators, sources of income, employment and education levels, housing characteristics, specific social categories, foreign citizens, as well as agricultural matters.

It was also noted that the initiative has been highly praised by international organizations. Experts from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) gave positive assessments of Uzbekistan’s preparatory work for the census and the integrated approach to conducting both population and agricultural counts. The support of these international organizations demonstrates that Uzbekistan’s census process complies with global standards and that its results will be recognized at the international level.

At the end of the press conference, media representatives received comprehensive answers from specialists to their questions.
