According to the National Statistics Committee, as of January 1, 2026, the number of specialist researchers in Uzbekistan holding a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree, as well as a Candidate of Sciences degree or an equivalent academic degree obtained in a foreign country, amounted to 15.5 thousand people.
This figure increased by 1.4 thousand people or 9.9% compared to January 1, 2025.
The number of specialist researchers with the academic degree of Doctor of Science (DSc) amounted to 4.8 thousand, increasing by 1.8 thousand or 60 percent over the year.
