On December 23 of this year, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted Resolution No. 808 "On measures for further development of the open data sphere in the Republic of Uzbekistan".
This resolution approved the "Concept of development of the open data sphere in the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2021-2025". The concept clearly defines such issues as strategic directions and principles for the development of open data for 2021-2025, improving the regulatory framework for open data, providing methodological support for data openness, organizational and information technology support for data openness, and expected results from the implementation of the concept.
At the same time, the "Regulation on the Open Data Portal of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was approved. The regulation clearly defines and approves such issues as the goals and objectives of the Open Data Portal of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the procedure for interaction between its operator, open data providers and users, technical support for the Open Data Portal of the Republic of Uzbekistan, improving its functionality, ensuring uninterrupted operation, as well as the organization of work on the integration of departmental information systems and resources, requirements for the provided open data sets for placement on the Portal, the procedure for placing open data sets and the passport of an open data set on the world information network Internet.
In addition, in accordance with the resolution, the State Committee on Statistics, together with interested ministries and departments, was instructed to take the necessary measures to join the International Open Data Charter in accordance with the established procedure in order to ensure the participation of the Republic of Uzbekistan in international ratings in the field of open data.
Also, the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications was instructed to develop and put into operation a new version of the Open Data Portal of the Republic of Uzbekistan by August 1, 2020 (data.gov.uz).
