Together with the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia and Eurostat, a video conference was organized on the topic “Data as value for society in the digital age”.
On the part of Goskomstat, the conference was attended by the head of the department for organizing and conducting the census processes Kobil Berdikulov, the head of the information security department Shahboz Janadilov, the head of the department for maintaining and system maintenance of statistical registers Nurbek Sheraliev and the deputy head of the department for census methodology and work with cartographic documents Jamshid Yeshniyazov.
Ms. Mariana Kotseva, Director General of Eurostat, made an opening speech at the conference. The experience of the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia was presented at the conference, which completely changed the approach to the population census and housing stock, switching from traditional census data collection to a fully register-based census.
The conference participants also discussed aspects of the statistical practice of the countries of Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia on the following topics: registersand the future; open and detailed data; legal aspects, confidentiality and personal data protection.
Presentations were made by Dr. Lee-Chun Zhang, Professor of Social Statistics at the University of Southampton, Ekaterina Matsuka, Director of the State Data Inspection of the Republic of Latvia, Dr. Domantas Jasilionis, Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research and others.
At the end of the presentation, an award ceremony for the winner of the Alternative Census Hackathon took place.
