On June 9-11, 2021, under the chairmanship of Statistics Canada, the meetings of the UNECE Working Group on Transport Statistics were organized by videoconference.
On the first day of the meeting, the experts of the working group discussed the methodology for collecting data using the common Eurostat / International Transport Forum / UNECE questionnaire, monitored the Sustainable Development Goals related to transport at the regional and national levels, reviewed the sets of statistics on rail, waterborne and urban public transport.
The State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics at the meetings of the working group is represented by Abdugafur Mirzakhidov - Head of the Service Sector Statistics Department and Alisher Rakhimov - Head of the Department of Comprehensive Statistical Observations in the Service Sector, Transport and Information Infrastructure, as well as employees of the Central Office.
During three days, the meeting participants will hear reports from the Director General of UN-Habitat, the working group on intermodal transport and logistics, with presentations from Canada, Switzerland, Eurostat, Italy, develop new recommendations for the census of road and rail transport in the UNECE region and for visualizing volumes transportation taking into account the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Also, experts from more than 30 countries in Europe, America, Central Asia, the Caucasus, the Asia-Pacific region will consider the implementation plan of the strategy of the Committee on Inland Transport until 2030 and gender data issues for transport statistics.
