On November 13 of this year, a meeting was held in the capital's Grand Mir Hotel with the participation of representatives of the State Statistics Committee, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the CIS Statistical Committee, the US Census Bureau, international experts from France, Italy, Hungary, Great Britain and media workers a “Debriefing of the Observation Mission of the Pilot Population Census” was organized.

At the event, foreign experts presented proposals and recommendations for conducting pilot census activities in Uzbekistan at the present time.

In particular, proposals and recommendations were made for further improving the questionnaires in accordance with the national mentality, eliminating some shortcomings in the population census program.

As it was noted at the event, the population census is a large-scale event of a nationwide scale that allows you to get a “photograph” of the country's population at a certain point in time and is a reliable source of information about the population. The data of each citizen is of paramount importance in the conduct of the population census, since, first of all, detailed data are collected on such indicators as the specific population, age, sex, citizenship, ethnic composition, marital status, education, level of housing, employment, sources of income.

Recall that from November 11, 2021, a pilot census of the population is being conducted in the Khojaabad region of the Andijan region, the Yukori-Chirchik region of the Tashkent region, the city of Khiva, the Khorezm region and in the Yashnabad region of the city of Tashkent.

The experience gained from the pilot census process will be an important factor in the effective implementation of the main census activity in 2023.
