A meeting of UNECE experts on the modernization of statistical legislation was held in Geneva.
This meeting will be the second UNECE meeting of experts on the modernization of statistical legislation. The target audience of the meeting is experts from national statistical offices and international organizations interested in strengthening the legal framework for official statistics and the legal aspects of data access, ethics, governance and governance. The expert meeting is open to all countries and international organizations.

The expert meeting is organized by a committee consisting of the United Kingdom, Albania, Armenia, Latvia, Poland, Eurostat, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) and the United Nations. Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and is supported by the Statistical Office of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

On the first day of the meeting, chaired by UKSA, experts discussed “Access to Confidential Data”, experience is presented (Statistics UK, Netherlands, Statistics Australia), and “Data Ethics” experience is presented (Statistics UK, Canada, National Institute of Statistics and Geography of Mexico, International Association of Official Statistics) Further, the session continued to study various aspects and experiences of access to privately owned data and explore the possibilities of international data exchange.
In the program of the second day of the meeting, chaired by Eurostat and the UN Statistics Division, the issues of "Data management and control from the point of view of legislation" were considered, the experience (Mongolia, New Zealand), reports were heard (Management Laboratories of New York University, Inter-American Development Bank, Directorate General European Commission on Communication Networks, Content and Technologies), the issue of “Implementation of the Model Law on Official Statistics” presents the experience of Argentina (Peruvian Center for International Studies) the experience of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Uzbekistan.


The State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics was represented at the meeting by Dilshod Zakirov - Head of the Department of Organization and Methodology of Statistical Works, who presented a report on the topic: "Application of the Model Law" On Official Statistics "in Uzbekistan".
