On December 6, 2022, a meeting was held at the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics with representatives of the World Bank as part of the project “Strengthening the statistical system in Uzbekistan”. It was attended by the chairman of the committee Begalov Bakhodir Abdusalomovich, heads of departments and departments of the central office of the committee, head of the statistics department of the Namangan region, as well as members of the World Bank working group - William Seitz, Sevilla Muratova and other specialists.
The purpose of the mission is to discuss further steps in the implementation of the “Strengthening the Statistical System in Uzbekistan” project, an action plan, as well as requests for data within the framework of the project.
We remind you that: in accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated August 3, 2020 No. PP-4796, with the assistance of experts from the World Bank, the “National Strategy for the Development of Statistics in the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2020–2025” was prepared and approved.
At the meeting, the members of the working group briefed the Chairman on the progress of the project, current tasks and a plan for further activities. Components of the project were reviewed, in particular capacity development, data preparation, equipment procurement and information dissemination plan, and project management.
Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to continue joint consultations within the framework of this project.
