On October 15-18 of this year, an international seminar on "Cross-border e-commerce and digital trade statistics" was held in Bali, Indonesia.

This event was organized in cooperation with the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), the United Nations Trade and Development Organization (UNCTAD) and the Central Bank of Indonesia. The seminar was attended by representatives of national statistical offices and central banks of more than 30 countries, as well as experts of the International Monetary Fund and international organizations. Representatives of statistical institutes of Costa Rica, India and Canada participated in the event online.

Botir Irgashev Samarovich, head of the Department of Foreign Economic Activity and Trade Statistics of the Statistical Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, participated in this seminar.

During the event, current trends in international trade, measurement of export-import of services and digital trade statistics were widely discussed. The differences between the concepts of e-commerce and digital commerce, data collection methods and best practices for their effective use were shared.

The main attention of the participants of the seminar was focused on the in-depth study of the conceptual foundations of international trade and improvement of skills in the field of balance of payments and services trade statistics. Within the framework of the event, opinions were exchanged and future cooperation plans were discussed.

This seminar will make a significant contribution to the improvement of the methodology of digital trade statistics for Uzbekistan in accordance with international standards and the introduction of new approaches to data collection.
