Today, on October 25, an agitation event was held at the Statistics Agency aimed at raising the legal culture among system employees, including young specialists, regarding the upcoming elections of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and local councils.

The event was opened by the agency's press secretary and advisor on information policy, Usmon Abdurasulov Rustamovich.

Zulhumor Talipova Normatovna, head of the Human Resources Management and Development Department of the agency, spoke about the opportunities being created for women in our country and emphasized that promoting women's legal culture and will during elections is an important tool for creating optimal conditions for them.

Vahob To'xtayev Oripovich, head of the Legal Department of the Statistics Agency, explained the history of elections, their origins, and the electoral systems that have formed through various political and legal processes in different countries, as well as electoral rights and electoral experiences.

During the event, employees were also informed about the electoral system of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the legal foundations of voting and being elected.

For reference, the upcoming elections for deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and local councils will be held for the first time based on a mixed (majoritarian-proportional) system. In this system, electoral districts are divided into single-member and unified electoral districts. 75 deputies of the lower house of parliament will be elected by the majoritarian system in single-member electoral districts (voting for a candidate), while the remaining 75 will be elected through the proportional system, based on the votes cast for political parties (according to party lists).
