On 8 September 2026, the National Committee on Statistics and the UNICEF Country Office in Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of the “Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) 2027” project. The document was signed by Behzod Hamrayev, Chairman of the National Committee on Statistics, and Regina Maria Castillo, UNICEF Representative in Uzbekistan.

The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials of the National Committee on Statistics, led by the Chairman, as well as representatives of the UNICEF Country Office in Uzbekistan. The Memorandum is aimed at generating reliable statistical data to monitor the well-being of children, adolescents and women, as well as to assess progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the fulfilment of national and international commitments within the framework of cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNICEF for 2026–2030.

Under the Memorandum, the parties will cooperate in the preparation and implementation of MICS 2027, including sample design, data collection and processing, quality assurance, analysis and dissemination of results. The UNICEF MICS team will also provide technical assistance in sampling, data processing, the organization of household surveys, interpretation of results and report preparation, as well as conduct specialized training workshops.
