On 22 September 2026, Haishan Fu, Chief Statistician of the World Bank Group and Director of the Development Data Group, visited the National Statistics Committee. As part of the visit, a meeting was held between the World Bank delegation led by Haishan Fu and the Chair of the National Statistics Committee, together with responsible officials of the Committee’s central office.
The meeting focused on the current state of cooperation between the National Statistics Committee and the World Bank, as well as prospects for further expanding this partnership. Particular attention was paid to the development of the national statistical system, the introduction of modern methods and technologies, capacity building for specialists, and the continuation of technical assistance provided by the World Bank.
During the discussion, the World Bank representatives were briefed on the work carried out in Uzbekistan to organize and conduct census activities, the approaches applied in these processes, and the experience gained. The parties also discussed the use of census results to improve the quality of statistical data and enable more in-depth analysis of socioeconomic processes.
The meeting also included a presentation on the Business Census, which is scheduled to be conducted in Uzbekistan from 15 October to 30 November 2026. Detailed information was provided on its objectives, coverage, data collection and processing procedures, organizational mechanisms, and expected results. Related issues were also discussed with the World Bank delegation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties exchanged views on further improving the national statistical system, expanding the use of international experience and modern approaches, and continuing mutual cooperation.
